Will founded Journey in 2019, driven by a crucial need for trauma-informed and culturally sensitive mental health services in his community. While his passion for helping others was clear, navigating the complexities of business ownership proved challenging. Engaging with a business coach provided the essential support and strategic guidance Journey needed to flourish.

The coaching offered more than just advice; it fostered an accountable partnership. Will's mentor challenged his assumptions and encouraged proactive steps. A key example was the acquisition of a permanent space. What Will initially saw as a long-term goal, his coach urged him to pursue immediately. This pivotal shift led to Journey purchasing a vacant downtown building in 2022, now a welcoming space with ten therapy rooms.

This transformation from a small practice with rented offices to a thriving team of 17 in their own building signifies a major success for both Will and his community. Journey is now the first LGBTQIA+ certified business in the city, providing vital, inclusive mental health support to underserved communities.

Will emphasizes that the coaching helped him embrace his authentic leadership while mastering essential business skills. The program provided a supportive network and expert mentorship, crucial during the challenging pandemic. "I don't think that Journey would be around, let alone grown as much as it has without this program," he reflects.

the Guiding Hand of Coaching

Mary's heart ached for the students she saw struggling in her local school district. As a single mother who had once faced homelessness, she knew the power of a stable and supportive environment.

This deep desire to nurture young minds and uplift her community sparked the creation of her home daycare in 2018. But Mary's vision extended far beyond the six children her license allowed. She dreamt of making a more significant impact.  She then met Trish, her  business coach, a guiding force who ignited a new level of ambition within her. 

With Trish's expert support, she tackled crucial business foundations: crafting clear goals, rebranding her business with a fresh logo, developing an essential employee handbook, and navigating the often-daunting process of funding applications. The program provided the structure and confidence Mary needed to envision and execute a full-scale daycare operation – one that would allow her to care for six times the number of children she could previously reach.

Mary affectionately nicknamed Trish her "Fairy Godmother of businesses," a testament to the transformative impact of their partnership. Trish's unwavering belief in Mary's potential and her gentle yet firm accountability were instrumental in pushing Mary beyond her comfort zone. "Trish doesn't  take no for an answer," Mary laughs. "She gives you the tasks, and she wants it completed."

Today, Barb's Family Learning Group Daycare is not just a growing business; it's becoming a cornerstone of childcare in her community.

It stands as a testament to Mary's dedication and the profound impact of dedicated business coaching.
